I almost caused an accident today, on skates.
I skated slowly, wary of the starting rain, and a bicyclist slowed to say "I've never seen such a thing."
As I passed, I heard and then saw an under-girl say "Jeez Louise", and barely avoid a bike-based crash.
In the news today, May Zhou was finally found, dead, in the trunk of her car.
She was a PhD student here as well, in the department across the street from mine, living somewhere in my apartment complex. She also drove a Toyota Corolla.

I was inspired this morning, half-dreaming, to remember that life is how we see it.
I (freeline) skated toward Gates this afternoon, and found out that I had passed two out of three comps that had results already posted, indexed by our not-so-magic number.

I played some (ping) pong with Google-branded paddles, went to a talk, returned a library book, and skated (part way) back home.
This time, I went more than half a kilometer down Escondido Rd -- which I've never done before (!) -- and makes up half the distance between the quad and my student home.
I went to see a Knuth computer musing.
What did I find?
Knuth's aspect ratio was greater than expected.
